Treatment Options

There are many different conditions treated by physical therapy, and many ways that those treatments can be delivered. What follows is a shortened list of the tools at the disposal of the physical therapist.

LASER – Class IV (high power) 60W Diowave

The primary mechanism of laser therapy is photobiomodulation which causes a stimulation of cells and tissue repair that is based on scientific research which has demonstrated positive physiological effects of infrared wavelengths on cellular organelles and electron chain molecules. The Diowave 60W Class IV High Power LASER (HPLT) is an option for some patients, and provides the energy input in a shorter period of time. Little research has been done about high power LASER, but here is a paper by the National Institutes of Health. There is also this: patient information about the Diowave 60W Class IV LASER   This is a modality that is not covered by insurance.

The Gyrotonic method is an orginal, and unique movement practice which has roots in Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance. Gyrotonic exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions, with corresponding breath. WIth Gyrotonic exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility. There is more information here.
